What is  For Inspriation and Reconition of Science and Technology (FIRST)

Dean Kamen, a famous inventor and physicist known for his invention of the Segway, founded First Robotics in 1989. His goal was to motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, and math; while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills. He then came up with the name FIRST, which stands for- For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. 2010's Breakaway

 This year Kick off took place Saturday January 9, 2010. For the next 6 weeks 1,809 teams from 12 countries will be working to design, build, and program a robot that can effectively kick soccar balls in to a goal which is at the other side of a court full of obstacles.
